What Are Our Three Branches of Government?

Legislative Branch

Our country has laws.  The legislative branch makes those laws.  There are two parts to the legislative branch, the senate and the house of representatives.  Each state votes to elect the senators and representatives that represent them in Congress. 

Executive Branch

We The executive branch is led by the president of the United States.  The president is elected every dour years.  The executive branch enforces the laws, nominates supreme court justices, and other members of the cabinet.

Judicial Branch

The supreme court is the highest court in the land.  The supreme court understands the laws and makes sure that laws are constitutional.

Three Branches of Government

There are three branches of government in the United States.  The branches are: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch.  The legislative branch makes the laws, the executive branch enforces the laws, and the judicial branch understands the laws and makes sure they are constitutional. 

Balanced Government

The three branches of government keep our government balanced.  Each works together to make things stay fair.
